Pakefield Coastwatch relies on the generosity and time of a dedicated group of volunteer watchkeepers and committee members. We are always looking to welcome new people to join our friendly team.
It you are aged 18 years or more, male or female, then we would love to hear from you.
Our Watchkeeper volunteers receive ‘on the watch’ training in:
- visual and radio watch-keeping
- reporting
- simple ship recognition
- understanding of navigational terms and charts.
- You will also develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork and attention to detail
None of this is demanding, it just requires an appreciation of the sea and those who use it. All training is given on watch by our team of qualified Watchkeepers. We are a uniformed organisation so you may have to provide some of your own uniform.
If you do not think that watch keeping is for you but still wish to offer your time, we have an active group of “Friends” who help us with our fund raising.
