Volunteer - Become a Watchkeeper
Our Watchkeeper volunteers receive ‘on the watch’ training in:
- visual and radio watch-keeping
- Reporting and log-keeping
- simple ship recognition
- understanding of navigational terms and charts.
- You will also develop soft skills such as communication, teamwork and attention to detail
Watchkeepers are asked to complete at least one watch (4 hours max) a week, although some do more.
We are also a uniformed organisation, and therefore volunteers are expected to supply their own uniform.
No experience necessary
We train you on what to do and how to do it. All you need to do is have an interest.
Build your skills
Volunteering is a great way to build your skills or add new ones. it's a great way to stay active too.
Communuty Spirit
All of our volunteers are local to Pakefield and Lowestoft, some may be old friends and others may be new friends. We all contribute to keeping out coast safe.
Be part of something
Joining Pakefield Coastwatch is a great way to donate some of your time to be part of something bigger.
